Welcome to my world and thank you for visiting!

Over the last 25 years I have amassed a collection of works and from this site will share selected paintings, poems, journeys, teachings, sayings and even some photography.

Feel free to share any of what you see from this site as it is free to you, as these works were a gift to me. Scroll down, to begin your journey ~
Brendan is a life-long painter and uses watercolor and acrylic as his primary medium. Although he studied architecture and cartooning for a short stint in college before joining the military, he is overall - a self taught artist influenced by his mother and his father; an architect.

His influences in painting began when he was just a child when his mother gave him a book of Picasso paintings. While Picasso remains his number one influence in painting, other influences include: Georges Seurat, Michelangelo, Salvador Dali and of course - God!

Brendan began writing poetry in 1989 after he was given a book of poems about Emily Dickinson. Because Emily was describing the etheric realm in some of her poems (which interested him) he decided to add poetry to his list of crafts that he wished to master one day. He has been writing poetry ever since...

His poetic influences are: Emily Dickinson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robinson Jeffers, Sylvia Plath, Maya Angelou and Allen Ginsberg.

An excerpt from Sophia Part I

I, Protilius, found God sitting on his throne…and although he was smiling, there seemed to be this kindling sense of great anticipation coming from him. Did he already sense or know what I was there to ask him about? And as I approached the throne to ask him this all important question, he stood up, walked down the steps and put his arm around me to lead me somewhere.

God: “Every truth starts with a question. Your question about who your mother is marks a very important time in your path.”

The following sayings, words of wisdom and teachings were written between 2009 and 2015 under either my name, Brendan, or my pen name, Protilius, who is also the protagonist in the epic poem, Sophia.

The purpose of W.O.W. is to condense and highlight in smaller, more potent bites of data and information, lessons I have learned since embarking on this journey back in 1989.
